Today I went for a walk.
I know… it’s a monumental revelation. I don’t know where the brass band went… I definitely hired one to celebrate/announce/glorify the fact that I went outside to do something OTHER than water my COVID garden or take out the trash.
But it’s getting to the point that something had to change. My morning routine consisted largely of me laying in bed reading stuff on my phone for an hour before I eventually dragged myself up.
Today I skipped the idle scrolling, laced up my sneakers, put on a podcast, and walked around the neighborhood park.
It was hot of course, because this is Houston… the armpit of the gulf of Mexico. But the true heat of the day hadn’t yet kicked in and it was 80s with a lot of humidity but also a lot of nice little breezes.
I almost can’t believe how good it felt simply to walk… because when I lost access to my gym, I pretty much stopped the exercise. I couldn’t find something to stick with at home.
But I liked this. I might stick with it.
I don’t think I realized how much brain drain happens when you wake up and start scrolling. That brings us to…
Kick Monday’s Ass Video
Incidentally, I made a video about morning routines a couple months ago, right when everything was shutting down.
Funny how sometimes we have to learn the same lessons over and over (and in my case… AND OVER) again. But that’s the whole point of failing forward.
Check out what recent-past-Angie had to say about her repeated failed attempts at developing a new morning routine. I’m gonna try to listen to her this time around…
