Kick Monday’s Ass: where the heck do I find clients? (November 30, 2020)

It’s time to kick Monday’s ass…

It’s almost my birthday and this year, my present to myself was dropping an uncomfortable chunk of change on a mastermind.

Angie from 10 years ago would be rolling her eyes… WTF Old-Ass Angie? Why are you blowing your wad on something that sounds like WORK? Shouldn’t a present be a hell of a lot more fun?

Younger me, you have a point re: fun-ness. And I promise, I’ll make it a point to have plenty of fun this week. Hell, I’ll celebrate all month long.

This mastermind is a present to myself because it’s an investment in my future… in a business that I love, working with people I adore, who are all creating really awesome shit.

That’s the dream. And the first step toward achieving the dream is knowing what you want in the first place.

I know what I want: for Permission to Kick Ass to launch in a major way. I want to be Oprah’s favorite thing, y’all. Touring the morning show circuit (trying not to drop F-bombs live on TV). Having big ass parties and workshops that get people STOKED to start their own business – and celebrating the ever-loving crap out of each and every one of my people who dares to dream bigger.

So that’s my gift to me this week – permission to dream big, do big. What are you doing for yourself and your business?

That brings us to this week’s video…

Kick Monday’s Ass: where the heck do I find clients?

This is probably one of the biggest pieces I see holding folks back from starting a thriving business. They worry about websites or names or offer stacks or any number of things… but don’t really give a second thought to finding business.

Or if they do think about it, the sheer number of possibilities quickly gets overwhelming… do I connect on LinkedIn? Run Facebook ads? Get on podcasts? Go to the Chamber of Commerce?

To me, it all boils down to two simple strategies – one to get you up and running quickly, and one to keep you busy long term. Here’s what I mean…

Badass of the Week

This week, a tip of the hat goes to Emily Bugg and Billy Lewis, who recently got married.

Yes, congrats are in order for the nuptials… but to me the big deal is this:

Instead of getting pissy about COVID screwing with their wedding plans and costing them a $5000 non-refundable catering deposit, the newlyweds collaborated with their caterer to provide 200 Thanksgiving dinners to people in need.

Talk about making the best of a bad situation. I truly believe that you get what you give… and if their generosity is any indication, their future looks pretty bright to me.

(If you know someone who should be featured as my Badass of the Week, leave a comment and tell me!)

On Repeat This Week…

I’m feeling pretty mellow again. One of these days I’ll record myself singing this one (harmonies and all), but for now I’ll just let you enjoy the original version.

The way he gets all raspy an intense toward the end always gives me goosebumps:

Brave Dreams That Are Kindled From Ashes
Rise Out Over The Battle Below
Spread Wings Over All That He Passes
So His Life Can Stay Immortal To The Country
Other Shades Of The Green That Brought For Me A Victory
But The Winds Of Change
Have Rearranged This Country
