Kick Monday’s Ass: DON’T fake it until you make it (November 2, 2020)

It’s time to kick Monday’s ass…

Ever carry so much stuff in your head that even the tiniest of decisions feels like a life-or-death scenario?

That happened to me last week where, in the midst of an upcoming move, a major work transition, and some growing pains with one of my writing teams… I found myself feeling supremely STUCK.

So I wound up meeting with my team and spending two hours getting every little thing out of my head. Groceries, checking the mail. But also the big things too – making good content for my followers, reaching out to potential podcast guests.

And then the next day we spent two more hours figuring out which things need to happen now and which need to happen later.

And suddenly it’s like I can breathe again. This morning I sat down and wrote out all the things I need to get done this week. Then I figured out which ones I can check off my list today.

I’m telling you, it feels like breaching the surface of a swimming pool when you’ve been underwater a fraction of a second too long.

So if you’re ever feeling stuck and overwhelmed and paralyzed by every little decision – maybe it’s time to set a timer (highly recommend 45 minutes to an hour) and write down E-VER-Y-THING you need to get done. Then take a break, come back, and organize it by priority.

You might surprise yourself.

Kick Monday’s Ass: DON’T fake it until you make it

Everyone starts from somewhere, so it only makes sense when you hear “fake it until you make it”.

I don’t think you need to fake it – in fact, I think it could actually hurt you as you start or grow your business. I go into it a little deeper in this week’s video…

Badass of the Week

This week the winner is an organization called Pets for the Elderly.

Since it was founded back in 1992, this incredible group has helped over 100K seniors with adoption fees.

But here’s the thing I love most – the creativity at play here.

So many people would stop at the problem and get stuck. Here we have two problems (homeless animals, lonely seniors) that are downright overwhelming/almost too much to tackle on their own. But put them together and they solve the struggle for each other.

I love it when it all comes together like this – and people are better off for it.

(If you know someone who should be featured as my Badass of the Week, leave a comment and tell me!)

On Repeat This Week…

I woke up with this one playing in my head for reasons I’m not entirely understanding myself. But it’s got me all fired up today, and maybe it can do the same for you:

I know that Tunechi don’t come without Wayne
I know that losin’ don’t come without game
I know that glory don’t come without…
Don’t come without…
Pain
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer
Pain
You break me down and build me up, believer, believer
Pain
Oh, let the bullets fly, oh, let them rain
My life, my love, my drive, it came from…
Pain!
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer
